IOWA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL
-News Release-

"Regional Festival to Return"

To defy rumors that the Iowa Renaissance Festival & Gathering o'Celts will not remain in the Amana Colonies, producer Gregory Schmidt has decided to up-grade the amount and quality of entertainment and historical presentations, this year.

Coinciding with Amana's "Maifest" weekend the 17th installment of the Renaissance faire will feature headliner acts from the Minneapolis, Chicago and Kansas City festivals. This includes Tuey Wilson the firetorch rope-walker (Minnesota Renaissance Festival), Three-Legged Race comedy improv from Chicago, Past Magic illusion show from Kansas City, West Coast Highland Games champion Kenneth Stewart, The Horsemen commedia dell'arte of Omaha, lutenist & poet Richard Griffith of Minneapolis, and The Amazing Budabi Brothers from Minnesota.

Besides these new additions to the festival line-up, 15 of the regular performing troupes and 180 costumed characters will return to offer their popular shows, music and demonstrations.

There will even be a complete re-mix of the food court with this year's addition of a 'Chocolate Fest' offered by the chocolatier of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. The artisan's marketplace will also see a variety of different goods for sale.
Gregory Schmidt, producer of the festival and head gate greeter, recently earned the over-all Best Actor Award at the inaugural Midwest Studio Showcase Awards for his leading role in the TV pilot "Ghost Town".

He can be seen in the feature movie NO LOVE FOR THE COWBOY, shot in Nebraska, with a Spring release.

Schmidt is the director of the new Renaissance fest theme park in Des Moines, and is building a similar one in Omaha.

The IOWA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL & Gathering o' Celts will take place on May 3rd & 4th (11am to 6pm) "rain or shine" at Middle Amana Park.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 8 to 14, with children free. There is free parking.
